Discovering Your Market
One of the most important parts of this business is discovering your NICHE MARKET and developing a plan on how to appeal to that market. So what is your market? Your market is who you are! If you’re a 30 year old stay at home mom who loves fashion and traveling, your market is going to be young stay at home mothers who love fashion and traveling. If you’re a 25 year old single guy who enjoys sports, heavy lifting, fishing, and boating, your market is going to be the same. Issues arise when Coaches attempt to appeal to everyone instead of having a narrow, focused market. When you attempt to do this, you never end up truly relating to any specific market. For example, if that same 25 year old single guy tries to market to a 65 year old grandmother, he is not going to be able to relate to her in any way. He doesn’t understand what she enjoys doing, doesn’t understand her personality, and they have nothing in common. Instead, focus on marketing to people who are very similar to you. When you’re able to do so, then you will relate to and build a relationship with others easily.
What you need to do now is put together a very specific list of who you are. What do you enjoy doing? What type of personality do you have? What are your hobbies? Do you have a family? Are you single? What do you do for a living? What are you passionate about? Do you do volunteer work? Do you enjoy traveling? What type of music do you like? These are just a few examples. As noted above, though, you have to make sure you’re specific! For example, if you love health and fitness, which hopefully you all do since you’re Beachbody Coaches, break it down into specifics. Health and fitness is very broad, so maybe you’re vegan, maybe you enjoy putting on mass, maybe you enjoy leaning out, maybe you train for obstacle races, whatever it is, be SPECIFIC!
Once you develop your list, then you can develop a plan on how you can start appealing to your market. You will join Facebook pages, follow Instagram accounts, search for Instagram hashtags, search for Twitter hashtags, join chat forums, and search for YouTube channels that revolve around your interests.
